Welcome New Members of the PNW Facilities Team

Dear Purdue University Northwest Campus Community,

Please join us in welcoming two new members of the Purdue University Northwest Facilities Team: Melissa Mravec and Carolyn Johnson. We are excited to have them join the University and look forward to the experience and leadership they will bring to their respective roles.

Melissa Mravec – Director of Grounds and Landscape

Melissa joins Purdue University Northwest as the director of grounds and landscape. Prior to joining PNW, she spent more than three decades working as a landscape designer in the private sector, serving both commercial and residential clients throughout the region. Melissa has also collaborated on several projects at PNW, providing her with valuable familiarity with our campuses and facilities.

In addition to her professional experience, Melissa serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwestern Indiana Nursery Landscape Association. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening and traveling.

Carolyn Johnson – Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Carolyn joins Purdue University Northwest as the new environmental health and safety specialist. She brings more than 10 years of higher education experience from Governor’s State University, where she served in a similar Environmental Health & Safety role.

Carolyn also has professional experience with U.S. Steel and the United States Marine Corps, providing her with a diverse background in workplace safety, environmental compliance and operational support.

Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health from Purdue University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading and traveling—especially to her favorite destination, Disney World.

Please help us welcome Melissa and Carolyn to the PNW community. We are excited to have them as part of the Facilities Team and look forward to their contributions to the University.
