Changes to PNW Windows Computers

Good morning,
As part of the ongoing Active Directory Migration project, PNW Windows computers will be migrated over to the central Purdue environment throughout the next two weeks. (macOS devices have already been migrated, and those users can disregard this message.)
What Does This Mean for You?
- Data stored on your local computer should not be affected, but it is always recommended that you save work to OneDrive to prevent any accidental data loss.
- Though this is not another Microsoft migration, you will be prompted to sign back into Office applications when completed.
- Note: If you receive a “Device TPM Error” when signing into Office for the first time, this is due to an expected security error. You may need to reboot and try again.
- Your computer profile will be migrated automatically, so once completed, you will only need to log back into your Windows computer with your username and password.
- If your device is on a campus network, it will restart multiple times after the deadline below.
Timeline
- Institutional Advancement – 06/15/2026 5 a.m.
- Enrollment Management and Student Affairs – 06/16/2026 5 a.m.
- Academic Affairs – 06/17/2026 5 a.m.
- Financial Affairs – 06/18/2026 5 a.m.
- Chancellor/Athletics – 06/19/2026 5 a.m.
If you would like to complete the migration on your own schedule, instead of waiting for your unit’s assigned date, it is available to you now via Software Center. You can initiate this migration when on campus (Hammond or Westville) at the end of your working day. If you are connected to the VPN, please disconnect prior to starting: this should only be initiated from a campus network connection.
Once you begin, your device will reboot several times over the span of 30 minutes but should be ready for login the next morning. Please refrain from logging into your device for the full 30 minutes to allow migration to occur and changes to sync.
If you have any questions, please contact the CSC.
