    Three Invited Talks on Digitalization and Decarbonization by CIVS Director

    Dr. Chenn Zhou was recently invited to give three talks: 1) “Digitalization and Decarbonization for Steel Industry” at the AIST Energy and Utilities Workshop: Roadmap to the Energy Efficient, Sustainable and Decarbonized Steel Industry at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from March 14-17; 2) “Digitalization for Advanced Manufacturing through Simulation, Visualization and Machine Learning: at REWAS 2022 (REcycling and WASte symposium) collocated with TMS 2022 in Anaheim, California on February 27–March 3; and 3) “Digitalization and Innovation for Steel Industry” at the SSAB Americas Strategy Summit in Rosemont, Illinois, on February 28 – March 1, 2022.

    CIVS Senior Research Engineer Kyle Toth and Senior Research Scientist John (Jack) Moreland presented the CIVS’s latest Digital Twin and VR/AR Projects at AIST Digital Transformation Forum 2022 which was held in the Westin Downtown Indianapolis on March 14th -16th,2022. This event is organized by AIST’s Electrical Applications/Sensors Subcommittee and Digitalization Applications Technology Committees.

    “Smart Ladle” Won AIST Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award

    AIST Board of Directors awarded CIVS Staff and Students 2022 Hunt-Kelly Outstanding Paper Award – third place (AIME) for the paper entitled “Smart Ladle: Al-Based Tool for Optimizing Casting Temperature.”
