SMSVC Meeting Highlights Decarbonization and Digitalization
Thank you to over 60 SMSVC industry attendees for a very productive Annual Meeting on November 9th & 10th at CIVS. The meeting was opened with the CIVS & SMSVC overview by Dr. Chenn Zhou, followed by SMSVC project technical presentations by CIVS students and staff. The session included comments by project technical committee industry members.

Purdue Northwest Selected for $7 Million Grant by Department of Energy for Blast Furnace Research
Purdue University Northwest researchers at the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) are leading a team selected for a $7 million federal grant to improve steelmaking processes.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy announced that PNW Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium housed at CIVS was selected for developing a next- generation Integrated Virtual Blast Furnace for real-time energy efficiency improvement.

Purdue, PNW, CES and SOE Announcements on Dr. Zhou being the NIPSCO Distinguished Professor
Purdue University Northwest and Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) announced that NIPSCO has created an endowment to establish a professorship in Engineering Simulation. Dr. Chenn Zhou will be the first to serve in the newly endowed position.
