Microsoft Account and Email Service Disruption (Resolved)
August 18, 2026

PNW Faculty and Staff,
Today, at approximately 4 p.m. CDT, a licensing issue briefly impacted your access to Microsoft applications, Purdue services using Microsoft authentication and email delivery.
Upon detecting the issue, our teams began restoring the missing licenses and held all incoming email (for future delivery). As of 8 p.m. CDT, all PNW Microsoft accounts have been re-licensed, and all held mail and new messages are being delivered.
Important Action Required
- Bounced Emails: Emails sent to you prior to the issue being detected may have bounced back to the sender with a “user not found” or “message could not be delivered” notice. If you were expecting an email during this time, and do not receive it, please reach out to the sender and ask them to resend. This period was approximately 4 to 6 p.m. CDT.
- Mail Forwarding Rules: We are actively reviewing and reinstating any mail rules that may have been altered. However, please check your mailbox rules tomorrow to confirm they are still configured properly.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
