Lily Schaffer

Introduction

Lily holds an M.A. in Linguistics with a TESOL specialization from the University of Colorado Boulder and an M.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University. Prior to teaching at Purdue University Northwest, Lily taught in ELP programs in Washington, D.C., at American University and Johns Hopkins University. Abroad, she has taught at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Puebla, Mexico and at CENAC in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Research Overview

Lily’s research interests include sociolinguistics, phonetics, phonology, second language acquisition, discourse analysis and critical applied linguistics. Her research focuses on L2 influenced L1 sound change in ethno-religious minority communities.
