PNW BASW students and faculty attend LEAD Day

A group of students and faculty post on stage with members of the NASW leadership.

Students and faculty from the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work program at PNW traveled to Indianapolis, IN to participate in LEAD Day (Legislative Education Advocacy Development), organized by the NASW-Indiana Chapter in February 2024.

LEAD Day is a chance for social work professionals, students and educators to gather and share stories, explain the political process, identify issues critical to social work practice and provide examples of social workers advocating on those issues.

LEAD Day also provides students the opportunity to head to the Indiana Statehouse to actively create change by engaging legislators directly and observing the General Assembly in action. This chance to experience lobbying legislators for policy change allows students to experience key components of social justice in action.
