New Incomplete Grade Policy

Students must achieve a permanent grade in the course no later than one year after the incomplete is given or the incomplete will revert to a failing grade.  Additionally, they will not be permitted to enroll in the same course in a future semester where they currently have an I, PI, or SI grade.  When a student completes the remaining coursework, instructors can assign a final earned grade by submitting a Form 350 Academic Record Change to the Registrar’s Office.  The form is available in myPNW on the Faculty/Advisor tab.

Exception to the Course Enrollment Limit

Students are permitted to enroll in a non-repeatable course up to 3 times. Withdrawals (W’s) are considered an attempt. Additional enrollment attempts in the same course require approval from the Academic Department.  Request for Exception to Course Enrollment Limit forms are available through the Registrar’s Office.  Email registrar@pnw.edu

Academic Renewal

Students who have not been enrolled at any Purdue University campus in the preceding five years and have been readmitted in good academic standing may request a one-time academic renewal.  The recalculation of scholastic indices applies to all Purdue University System graded courses that comprise the Academic Record prior to readmission. Although the original course grades will remain unchanged on the transcript, they will receive zero credit and will not be included in the credit hour total nor will they be included in the calculation of program GPA and cumulative GPA. Request for Academic Renewal forms are available through the Registrar’s Office. Students have one full year from the start of the semester in which they are readmitted to make their request.

Graduation Requirement – Residency

Resident study at Purdue University Northwest consists of at least two semesters and the enrollment in and completion of at least 32 semester hours of coursework required for the completion of the degree on PNW campuses. These courses are expected to be at least junior-level courses (30000 level or higher). Find more information in the Academic Catalog under Residency Rule in the Academic Regulations section.

Deadlines for Submitting Grade Corrections and Meeting Degree Requirements

Grade corrections should be reported to the Registrar’s Office within 30 days after the start of a fall, spring or summer semester following the semester in which the erroneous grade was assigned. The Form 350 Academic Record Change must be signed by the instructor and department chair.

All degree requirements for undergraduate and professional degrees are to be met by the end of the academic session in which the degree is to be conferred. If the academic requirements have not been met by the end of the session, the candidate’s school may grant an extension, not to exceed 30 days following the end of the session, for these requirements to be completed in order for the degree to be conferred for that session.
