Global Collective Action Seminar

Join us for a Zoom seminar co-presented by the PNW Center for Global Studies meant to spark awareness for topics of race, social justice, human rights, environment and global barriers to positive societal change.

Register in advance

Attendance is free and open to all, but attendees must register in advance in order to receive the Zoom link and seminar program.

The first 50 registrants will be entered in a drawing to win a podcast equipment bundle. The first 100 registrants will be entered in a drawing to win a copy of Erin Suzuki’s “Ocean Passages” or Judy Heumann’s book, “Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist.”

disability rights activist Judith “Judy” HeumannWe honored and excited to welcome disability rights activist Judith “Judy” Heumann to the program for a Q&A session. Judith Heumann is an internationally recognized disability advocate who has served in the Clinton and Obama Administration and was a Senior Fellow at the Ford Foundation. Judy’s story was also featured in the documentary “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution,” a 2020 American award-winning documentary film produced by the Obama Higher Ground Production.

In 2020, she published her memoir “Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist,” written with Kristen Joiner. There is also a Young Adult version called “Rolling Warrior.” Judy is now the producer of The Heumann Perspective, a podcast and YouTube channel that aims to share the beauty of the disability community” (Heumann, 2020). Judy’s session will run from 8 to 9 a.m. via Zoom. Attendance is free to all, but attendees must register to receive a Zoom link. The first 100 registered will be entered into a drawing to win a copy of Judy’s book, “Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist.”
