Registration Deadline: Mental Health First Aid Training for Faculty and Staff

The PNW Counseling Center has continued the mental health initiative called “Mental Health First Aid” (MHFA).
Our goal is to support non-clinical staff and faculty in recognizing mental health distress and substance use, differentiate from crises, and giving attendees the tools to respond and refer appropriately. The training program also helps attendees decrease stigma, address tough challenges, and allow faculty and staff to show up fully in their daily lives and support their students.
Additionally, benefits for attending the training are:
- access to a nationwide support network of mental health first aiders who are in higher education,
- referral resources for on- and off-campus supports,
- certification from the National Council on Mental Wellbeing that lasts three years, and
- having the tools to feel more comfortable engaging with distressed students.
Upcoming Training Date
The next training for any PNW Faculty & Staff will be taking place on Friday, October 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Hammond campus (room # TBA).
Event Registration
- Registration deadline: Friday, September 18
- Registration is limited to the first 30 people.
- Pre-work: 30 minutes to be completed by noon on Thursday, October 1.
- Lunch will be provided to attendees.
Cost Information
During registration, you will be required to select your departmental/college division (i.e., Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, College of XXX). Please make sure that you select the accurate division, as we will be sending a notice of who registered to the administration of each area. Also, please discuss with your supervisor prior to registering for this training, as there is a cost associated with this training that is to be covered by your department/college division.

If you register and we have reached our maximum quota, we will let you know and put you on our email list to be notified when the next MHFA training occurs. Additionally, if you register for the training and can no longer attend, please notify Amber Mosley, Ph.D., H.S.P.P. or Ryan Parsons-Rozycki, M.S., LMHC so that we can reach out to faculty/staff on the wait list.
