In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Purdue University Northwest’s (PNW) College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences presented “The Gabby Petito Story,” a fireside chat-style event with guest panelists Nicole Schmidt and Tara Petito.

Schmidt and Petito, who are the mother and “bonus” mother of the late Gabby Petito, shared their stories and perspectives on the red flags that can be observed in instances of intimate partner violence, as well as how college students can support peers who may be experiencing signs of domestic violence.

Schmidt and Petito joined a panel with Nicky Ali Jackson, professor of Criminal Justice, and Gisele Casanova, chair of the department of Psychology.
