Center for Faculty Excellence New Faculty Member Spotlight: Meet Rand Abdallah

Purdue University Northwest’s Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to introduce several new faculty members who have joined the university during the 2025-26 academic year. Get to know more about Rand Abdallah, lecturer of Electrical and Computer Engineering!

Why did you choose PNW?

“I chose PNW because of its diversified student and faculty populations; the quality of the electrical and computer engineering programs offered at PNW; familiarity with PNW as an alum; and being a part of the esteemed Purdue system.”

What are you most excited about in your first year?

“I am most excited to engage with PNW students, faculty and staff from different origins and backgrounds; to bring my industrial experience to classrooms for benefitting my students; and to learn effective teaching and learning methods via referring to senior faculty and the various campus offices, as well as centers.”

What is the best piece of advice you would like to give PNW students?

“Never hesitate to contact me or see me in my office if you have any questions. Always keep in mind that what you put in, you get out.”

How do you spend your free time?

“Doing activities with my three sons.”

What is your favorite quote?

“It is never too late to be what you might have been. If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.”

Why did you get into your field of study?

“It has a good return on investment.”
