Eight students in PNW’s Mechanical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering programs are recipients of this year’s Haas Foundation scholarships. The Gene Haas Foundation recognizes that the future of manufacturing in the United States – and around the world – depends directly upon the availability of skilled workers.

One of the primary goals of the Gene Haas Foundation is to provide financial assistance for students interested in manufacturing-based careers. Purdue University Northwest’s Engineering Technology Department received $10,000 to support students in advanced manufacturing programs.

James Higley, professor of mechanical engineering technology, said “the donation from the Gene Haas Foundation allows these students to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing and contribute to progress worldwide.”
