Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that the following tenured faculty have each been awarded a one-semester sabbatical leave during the 2026-2027 academic year.

– Dr. Nicky Jackson, Professor of Criminal Justice

– Dr. Kenneth Kincaid, Associate Professor of History

– Dr. Shengyong Zhang, Professor of Mechanical Engineering

– Dr. Michael Zimmer, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences

As per Purdue University policy on Sabbatical Leaves (I.A.5) and Purdue University Northwest’s Academic Affairs Memorandum AA-8 (Operating Procedures for Sabbatical Leaves), we invest in sabbatical leaves with the expectation they will significantly enhance the faculty’s capacity to contribute to the university’s mission. Sabbatical leaves are of vital importance to our university in that they provide opportunities for continued professional growth and new or renewed discovery and intellectual achievements through study, research, and writing.

Please join me in congratulating our colleagues and wish them well this coming academic year as they embark on their discovery and research endeavors.

Sincerely,

Marie Mora
