CIVS researcher John Moreland and graduate student Myriam Changoluisa met with safety instructors at Cleveland Cliffs Burns Harbor’s Deer field training center on December 13, 2021 to work on an Augmented Reality (AR) Lockout-Tagout-Tryout project with Angela Hiller, the manager of Deerfield Training Center, and safe instructors from Cleveland-Cliffs.

CIVS researchers developed a prototype of the AR project last year called ARMSS: Augmented Reality Maintenance and Safety Simulator. The simulator helps teach personnel how to safely dissipate and control stored hazardous energy. The simulator is expected to be used as part of annual safety training for all Cleveland Cliffs personnel in 2022.
