CIVS Director Presents on the AIST Foundation Grant Webinar
CIVS Director, Professor Chenn Zhou was invited to give a talk at the Association of Iron and Streel Technology (AIST) Foundation Grant Webinar on May 4th. The purpose is to provide information and help for university professors to apply for AIST foundation grants. As the first recipient of the AIST Digital Transformation for Steel Manufacturing Grant in 2019, Prof. Zhou shared her experience in proposal writing and project outcomes. The project entitled ”Smart Ladle” has created an AI tool to control casting temperature in real time and also resulted in an AIST Best paper in Digital Technology. Prof. Zhou also served as a mentor for AIST Kent D. Peaslee Junior Faculty grant.
The AIST Foundation is the philanthropic arm of AIST. The mission as well as the purpose of the Foundation is to “ensure the iron and steel industry of tomorrow will have a sufficient number of qualified professionals.” The Foundation and steel industry offers faculty and students opportunities with and within the industry.
