CIVS researcher Dr. ArminSilaen presented the research paper titled “Reduction of Fuel Utilization through Oxygen-Enriched Combustion in a Pusher-Type Reheat Furnace” at the ASME Summer Heat Transfer Virtual conference on which took place on June 16-18, 2021.  The research was funded by Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC) members.  CIVS researchers utilized computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to determine the optimal implementation of oxygen-enrichment in a reheat furnace to improve its energy efficiency.

The ASME Summer Heat Transfer Conference is an annual conference that serves as a platform for the presentation of state-of-the-art research and technical interactions among researchers and engineers focusing on heat and mass transfer in a variety of applications.
