Safety personnel from ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor visited CIVS on February 3rd to learn about virtual safety training simulators that are being developed through the Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC). The group reviewed simulators for Fall Protection, Lockout-Tagout, and Confined Space, and discussed how they could be used at Indiana Harbor.

CIVS Research Scientist, John Moreland, later traveled to Indiana Harbor to show instructors how the simulators can be used to enhance safety training classes. The simulators are available for use on PC computers as well as VR headsets and are part of ongoing safety training research that is being conducted at CIVS for the SMSVC.
