Safety Training, EAF Simulation Discussed at SDI Butler Facility

CIVS teams visited Steel Dynamics, Inc to discuss cutting-edge projects in safety training, engineering simulations, & smart manufacturing on October 29, 2019.
CIVS Senior Research Scientist John Moreland talked with SDI safety and training representatives about adapting the SMSVC safety training simulators with SDI’s input. The SMSVC Electric Arc Furnace Project group comprised of Yuchao Chen, Yu Wang, & Qingxuan Liu met with SDI Engineer Nicole Wiley to begin the next stages of the Electric Arc Furnace simulation work. SDI Casting Manager Yury Krotov met with CIVS Research Engineer Nicholas Walla & Haoyu Shi to discuss the AIST Digital Transformation Smart Ladle Project, part of a cutting-edge initiative to integrate deep learning technology with steel production processes.
