Joseph Lopez presented on his CIVS summer research on, outlining the importance of solar energy and the important role that virtual simulators can have in preparing the renewable energy workforce for photovoltaics. Joseph is an undergraduate student majored in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University West Lafayette, who did the summer internship at CIVS with Senior Research Scientist, John Moreland in Solar Energy.

Joseph also developed a prototype virtual reality solar farm showing potential future directions for interactive solar simulators. The project is serving as a foundation for planned future work to develop interactive educational simulators for solar technicians and other renewable energy students and workforce.
