SUBJECT: Tuition Remission for Senior Citizens

WHEREAS: Purdue University Northwest values its role as “a center of education, innovation, economic development and culture”, and

WHEREAS: Strengthening of bonds with the surrounding communities brings mutual benefits, and

WHEREAS: The interaction of generations is invaluable in the learning environment, and

WHEREAS: The optimal use of physical facilities and human resources is most desirable,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Purdue University Northwest Faculty Senate requests that the Administration increase the presence of senior citizens on our campuses and consider the following guidelines:

A. Degree-seeking Senior Citizens

Eligibility

  • 62 years of age or above
  • retired, employed part-time, or unemployed
  • Indiana resident
  • must meet regular degree entrance qualifications and course requirements

Remission: 50% off tuition (general service fees). All other fees apply except for student activities and parking fees.

B. Non Degree-seeking Senior Citizens

Eligibility and Class Availability

  • 62 years of age or above
  • retired, employed part-time, or unemployed
  • Indiana resident
  • space-permitting – regular students have priority registering for class including in waiting lists.

Remission: $25 registration fee. All other fees apply except for student activities and parking fees.
