Founders Day Request to Faculty Senate, 2018
Office of the Chancellor
September 22, 2017
Dr. Feng-Song Wang
Faculty Senate
Educational Policy Committee, Chair
Purdue University Northwest
Dear Feng-Song;
Purdue Northwest will celebrate Founder’s Day this year on Friday, March 2, 2018. The University is planning an array of activities including a presentation by Edward Humes, the author of Garbology: Our Dirty Love Affair with Trash.
Over 1,000 students are reading and developing projects based upon this book and we would hope to see many at the author’s presentation.
In order to afford students and faculty the opportunity to participate in Founder’s Day, I am requesting that Faculty Senate pass a resolution that limits classroom instruction to 8:00 A.M. to Noon on Friday, March 2, 2018.
Given that Founder’s Day is an annual event, it may be valuable and timesaving for the Faculty Resolution to note that in all future years, classroom instruction will be limited to 8:00 A.M. to Noon in commemoration of this special day.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Thomas L. Keon
Chancellor
