The Executive Committee
Whereas: The current wording in the Constitution, Section I.A, defines the Faculty as follows: “The Faculty consists of all those who teach or hold academic rank,” and includes Continuing Lecturers and Limited Term Lecturers as faculty, and
Whereas:Purdue system-wide policy defines Continuing Lecturers and Limited Term Lecturers as staff, rather than faculty (Policies VI.F.4, https://www.purdue.edu/policies/human-resources/vif4.html), and
Whereas: It is the wish of the Purdue Northwest faculty to continue to consider as faculty all their colleagues who teach,
Be it resolved: The first sentence of Constitution I.A shall be changed to the following two:
For the purposes of this document, the Faculty consists of all those who teach or hold academic rank. Note that this is not consistent with system-wide policy as given in Policies VI.F.4.
