Resolution on a Proposal to Organize a Department of Computer Science within the School of Engineering, College of Engineering and Science

Whereas: The Purdue University Northwest Senate received and discussed a proposal from the College of Engineering and Sciences to implement a reorganization of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science into two departments and

Whereas: One of the proposed departments is a Department of Computer Science, and

Whereas: The proposal was referred to the Education Policy Committee and the Committee was tasked with giving the Senate the benefit of its advice on this issue, and

Whereas: At the conclusion of the Committee’s discussions, it was decided that Education Policy Committee encourages the College of Engineering and Sciences go forward with making Computer Science into a separate department

Where this new Department is particularly located within the College of Engineering and Sciences is something that should be decided by the Dean in consultations with the faculty of the college.
