FSD 20-01 Amendment to Bylaws III.B.3.3: Terms of Senate Officers

Whereas: Actions taken over the summer by the Senate Chair often need to be followed up on in the fall by the new Chair, and

Whereas: Communication failures can lead to missed follow-up on items of importance to the Senate, even with the best of intentions, and

 

Whereas: Bylaws III.B.3.3 currently states “The terms of all Officers of the Senate shall begin one week before the first Executive Committee meeting of the fall. At that point the Vice-Chair Elect shall become Vice-Chair, and the Chair-elect (in 2018) or Vice-Chair (in 2019 and beyond) shall become Chair,”

 

Be it resolved: Bylaws III.B.3.3 shall be amended to read “The terms of all Officers of the Senate shall begin one week after the last Senate meeting of the spring. At that point the Vice-Chair Elect shall become Vice-Chair, and the Vice-Chair shall become Chair.”
