Whereas, the Faculty of Purdue University Northwest has been made aware of the facts that the president of the University of Evansville, who is leading a top-down effort to eliminate academic programs and faculty;

Whereas, the University of Evansville’s faculty where not included in the decision making process;

Whereas, the above stated facts are deeply disturbing and unfortunate to the future of education in a fellow Indiana intuition;

Whereas, the sentiments of Faculty of Purdue University Northwest are expressed through this resolution, that they stand shoulder to shoulder with the Faculty of the University of Evansville, in their rightful struggle of self-determination, in support of efforts to re-secure shared governance, as stipulated in the UE faculty manual;

Therefore, be it resolved that the Faculty Senate of the Purdue University Northwest strongly urges that a return to true shared governance, as described in AAUP guidelines, be stored which will avoid permanent damage to the University of Evansville’s functioning and reputation.
