Executive Committee Statement

December 16, 2022

We, the Executive Committee of the Purdue Northwest Faculty Senate, unanimously demand that Thomas Keon immediately resign as Chancellor.

We note the following:

  1. His offensive statements at commencement, on Saturday, December 10, 2022, insulted the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, including faculty, staff, and students at Purdue Northwest.
  2. His inexcusable behavior caused national and international outrage.
  3. His behavior does not reflect the diversity and inclusiveness that Purdue faculty, staff, and students value.
