Fixed Period of Admission Rule

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a new federal rule to replace “Duration of Status” (D/S) with fixed-date admission to the U.S., or a “Fixed Period of Admission” (FPA).

The new rule impacts procedures that F-1 and J-1 students, graduates on Optional Practical Training (OPT), J-1 scholars and all F-2 and J-2 dependents must take to extend their programs and lawful stay in the U.S.
