Purdue University Northwest’s Transition to Teaching (T2T) License Program is your stepping stone into the classroom. The T2T program is designed for passionate professionals ready to pivot into a meaningful career in education.
Whether you’re a scientist, artist, engineer or historian, if you’ve got a bachelor’s degree and a calling to teach, this program transforms your expertise into classroom impact!

Our faculty are committed to guiding emerging educators and students looking to change careers through meaningful, standards-based instruction.
PNW’s Secondary Education T2T program aligns with Indiana Department of Education standards, preparing you to make an immediate impact in middle and high school classrooms.
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from an accredited institution
- Submitted the Initial Inquiry Form with the School of Education and Counseling at PNW
- Pass the content competency exam for Secondary Education candidates: See the list of state-required content Praxis exams in the area you want to be licensed to teach.
- Once eligibility has been established, candidates will apply as a Graduate student for admission as a non-degree seeking/teacher licensure candidate at PNW.
- Complete all courses on the Degree Plan with a C or better
- Secondary Method courses require in-person attendance in the evening at the Hammond campus
- Placement with a supervisor or cooperating teacher for field experiences
- Complete the Degree Plan for Secondary Education licensing
- Pass all required exams for the license

Participants in the Secondary T2T program will complete six courses plus an interview with program faculty:
