The VR shark simulator, developed for the National Science Foundation (NSF) DREAMSTEM project, lets learners experience the ocean through the unique senses of a shark. Project PI, Patrick Rice, said attendees at the event thought it was great and were able to experience how sharks live in the ocean

CIVS is working with The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) to develop a number of Marine Science VR training applications to help prepare students for STEM careers, including a Reef Visual Census simulator, a Coral Reef Restoration simulator and Rebreather VR Training.

The event featured a documentary on the making of Jaws and question and a question-and-answer session with Wendy Benchley, alongside a shark science program with researchers and presenters from CFK.
