CIVS Hosts Steel Dynamics Managers for CIVS & SMSVC Projects

On June 12, Conrad Fisher (Melting Manager) and Eric Murray (Safety Coordinator) from Steel Dynamics visited CIVS to gain insight on CIVS and SMSVC safety and workforce development projects. Kyle Toth (CIVS Sr. Research Engineer) and Rohit Kovvuri (CIVS Research Engineer) reviewed SMSVC projects including AI Hazard Recognition, for which Steel Dynamics is one of the current case study sites, and the AI Safety Chatbot for safety reporting. Other projects discussed included the Steel Dynamics Manufacturing Pod and VR Hazard Recognition Training. The group had productive discussions about the current and future potential projects.

The group also participated in hands-on demonstrations in the visualization lab, including the crane training simulators and the AIST Steel Wheel. Steel Dynamics is a charter member of SMSVC.
