PNW students showcase their research at spring symposia

Numerous Purdue University Northwest (PNW) students participated in several opportunities during late spring 2025 to share the intriguing findings and knowledge they have acquired through academic research projects.
Student researchers at the undergraduate and graduate levels presented papers, research studies and equipment showcasing their curiosity, ingenuity and passion for searching for solutions in their fields of study.
A total of 430 student and 38 faculty participants joined PNW’s Days of Discovery symposium. Days of Discovery is an annual campus event featuring PNW student scholarship across various disciplines in poster presentations.
[Research] is learning by doing. Scholarship is not just about working in a lab, office, or field — it is about sharing that work.
“Research is a different and complementary way of learning,” said Michael Zimmer, associate professor of Biological Sciences and Faculty Fellow for Undergraduate Research. “It is learning by doing. Scholarship is not just about working in a lab, office, or field — it is about sharing that work.”
PNW’s College of Technology and School of Engineering additionally hosted annual end-of-year research showcases through Technology Day and Senior Design events. PNW students in several engineering and technology disciplines, as a part of their plans of study, are required to complete and present capstone projects.
A total of 60 students presented capstone and co-curricular projects at Technology Day and 33 student groups displayed capstone research at Senior Design.
