Two CHESS sociology professors received research grants from the Indiana Academy of the Social Sciences.

Kathryn Sweeney, associate professor, and Hubert Izienicki, assistant professor, received $500 grants each at the academy’s annual meeting in Valparaiso on Oct. 11.

Sweeney’s research project is titled “Use and Understanding of DNA Ancestry Testing,” while Izienicki’s project is “Gender, Race, and History in the LGBT Children’s Books: Patterns of Representation in Themes and Central Characters.”

Sweeney and Izienicki will present their findings at the academy’s annual meeting in 2020.
