About Elizabeth Babcock Depew

Elizabeth Babcock Depew has served as the vice chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Purdue University Northwest since June 2022. Her areas of responsibility include undergraduate admissions, financial aid, registration, Hispanic Serving Institution initiatives, reporting and operational intelligence, housing and residential education, the office of the Dean of Students, veteran services, the PNW Accessibility Center, student life, counseling center and Educational Opportunity Programs.

Babcock Depew has infused forward-looking and entrepreneurial practices into all areas of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, leading to gains in enrollment and student resources. These include implementing stronger support systems for underrepresented and first-generation students, increasing scholarship opportunities, fostering stronger collaboration to improve student recruitment efforts, forging expanded partnerships with Ivy Tech and increasing targeted student recruitment.

Under her leadership, first-time freshman enrollment has increased overall and the university’s undergraduate Hispanic/Latino student population has surpassed 25%. She is leading the university’s process to be formally designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). In fall 2023, Babcock Depew was announced as one of 50 fellows for the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ (HACU) fifth Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo. The fellowship is intended to increase diverse representation in executive and senior-level positions in higher education institutions and to develop leadership for roles with an emphasis on emerging and current HSIs.

Babcock Depew has served the PNW campuses for more than 20 years in a variety of operational and leadership roles. Previous to being named vice chancellor, she served as director of Managerial Accounting.

Babcock Depew is a proud PNW alumna and first-generation graduate, having earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting and an MBA from PNW. She earned an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Northern Illinois University.
