Esports generally means competitive gaming. At Purdue Northwest, esports will be organized, multiplayer, computer and console-based video game competitions that can be viewed by nonparticipants both in-person and online.

Purdue Northwest Esports currently competes in League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals, iRacing, and Super Smash Bros.

Additional titles are being explored on a yearly basis.

Beginning July 1, Esports will be administratively housed within the Office of Student Life. Operational structure, staffing, and day-to-day coordination are currently being finalized as part of the transition.

We anticipate that Esports captains and other Esports athletes will have an expanded role in the operations of their team.

There are currently 40 student-athletes on the PNW esports teams.

If you are interested or think you have what it takes to compete, please contact Student Life.

Esports is evolving into competitions that begin in August and revolve around the collegiate academic calendar.

Our schedule will begin at the start of the academic year and student-athletes will compete through fall and spring with appropriate breaks.

Purdue University Northwest will develop state-of-the-art facilities at both the Hammond and Westville campuses, featuring 30 gaming units on each campus.

While the majority of events will be online and without travel expense, there will be some opportunities for the Purdue Northwest esports program to travel to competitions and tournaments.

It is either Esports or esports. Do not use the hyphen.
