Student Rights and Responsibilities

Students have certain rights and responsibilities when receiving financial aid.

You have the right:

To know the types of federal, state, institutional and private aid available.
To know procedures, dates and deadlines and eligibility requirements to apply for financial aid.
To know the cost of attending the university.
To know Satisfactory Academic Progress standards that students must meet.
To know how and when financial aid is disbursed.
To know the terms and conditions of any loans or other financial aid.
To know how to contact financial aid for assistance with your financial aid questions.
To know how to purchase required books and supplies.
To know the general terms and conditions for federal work study employment provided to students as part of their financial aid award package.

It is your responsibility:

To read and consider all information about Purdue University Northwest before you enroll.
To accurately and honestly complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
To use your financial aid for educational expenses related to enrollment at Purdue Northwest.
To turn in any requested documentation or satisfy outstanding requirements related to your financial aid.
To read, understand and accept responsibility for all forms or agreements you sign. We recommend you keep copies for your records.
To notify the Office of Financial Aid if you are attending more than one school at the same time. You may only receive financial aid at one school each term.
To contact the Office of Financial Aid prior to enrollment changes in order to understand the effect those changes may have on your financial aid.
To report any student loan default or grant overpayment to the Office of Financial Aid.
To notify Purdue Northwest and your loan servicer of any changes in your name, address or school enrollment status.
