Cost

The Office of Financial Aid calculates an estimated cost of attendance for student financial aid applicants based on federal student aid guidance.

Cost of attendance estimates vary based on enrollment level each semester and a variety of other factors and consists of direct costs (expenses paid directly to the school) and indirect costs (expenses incurred while in school). The costs below are based on  enrollment for fall and spring.

What’s Included in Cost of Attendance?

  • Estimated Tuition and Fees– varies by residency, level of enrollment, College or School of enrollment and course enrollment (i.e. courses including a lab) Note: actual tuition and fees calculations and billing are done by the Bursar’s Office
    • Tuition and Fees are a direct cost and are charged each semester
  • Housing and Food– varies by whether a student lives in on campus residence halls, living off campus or living at home with parents; if a student is enrolled less than half-time, no housing and food allowance can be provided
    • Housing charges are a direct cost for students in campus housing
    • Housing and Food are an indirect cost for students living at home or in non-campus housing
  • Books and Supplies– A standard allowance of $299 per semester for students in the instructional materials access program. Students who opt out will be provided a standard allowance of $50 per credit hour.
    • Books and Supplies are a direct cost for students in the instructional materials access program
    • Books and Supplies are an indirect cost for students who opt out of the instructional materials access program
  • Transportation– A standard allowance is generally provided based on whether a student lives in on campus residence halls or either lives off campus or at home with parents
    • Transportation is an indirect cost
  • Personal Expenses– A standard allowance is generally provided; if a student is enrolled less than half-time no personal expense allowance can be provided
    • Personal Expenses are an indirect cost
  • Loan Fees – Actual loan fees you are charged if you accept a Federal Direct loan
  • Licensure, Certification or a First Professional Credential – Costs to obtain the license, certification or credential while enrolled as a student in a program requiring the licensure, certification or credential
  • Other Costs – Other costs such as dependent care, study abroad expenses or expenses related to a student’s disability on a case-by-case basis
