Five Simple Steps to Join the Pride

After accepting your offer of admission, here are your final steps before officially joining Purdue Northwest:

Student using laptop1. Establish Your Student Account

A student account is your basic login for PNW services. This account will allow you to get your pnw.edu email account as well as access university resources. You will also use the password you create to log into computers on campus.

To activate it, you will need your Purdue University ID (PUID) number and career account to setup password, both of which are in your portal.

Activate Your Student Account

It may take up to 48 hours for you to be able to complete this process once you have accepted your offer.

2. Set Up Your BoilerKey

After activating your student account, the next step is to set up BoilerKey. This two-factor authentication service protects access to sensitive information including billing, registration and grades.

Set Up Your BoilerKey

It may take up to 48 hours for you to be able to complete this process once you have accepted your offer.

3. Take the ALEKS Math Placement Exam (myPNW Portal)

Math placement can be completed online using the ALEKS link under the “Newly Admitted” tab in the MyPNW portal. Only Nursing majors are excluded from taking the ALEKS math placement exam.

Providing an ACT/SAT score may exclude you from taking the ALEKS Exam.

4. Complete the Pre-Advising Checkpoint (myPNW Portal)

Please complete the Pre-Advising Checkpoint in the myPNW portal so you can schedule your advising appointment. The more information you provide to your academic advisor about yourself, the better prepared your academic advisor can be to get all of your questions answered and ensure they are recommending the right classes for you.

5. Schedule an appointment with your advisor (myPNW Portal)

Once your Pre-Advising Checkpoint is complete, schedule an appointment with your advisor in the myPNW portal to complete the registration process.

New Student FAQs

Your PNW application portal will allow you to view your admission decision letter, accept your offer of admission, view your student profile and learn more about New Student Orientation.

Throughout your time as a student, you will use your Career Account, also known as your myPNW student portal, to grant you access to your financial aid notification, online bill status, class information and much more. Your personal login information is located in your admission letter and PNW application portal.

Please wait 48 hours after accepting your offer of admission to set up your student account and BoilerKey.

The first step in setting up your myPNW student portal is to create your password. You’ll need to enter your 10-digital Purdue ID (located in the PNW application portal). If you have a nine-digit PUID, please enter 0 for the first digit.

Once your password is created, you’ll need to set up your BoilerKey. The BoilerKey is a two-factor authentication system that significantly improves the security of protected computer systems and accounts by requiring two forms of verification before access is granted. Learn more about how to set up your Boilerkey here.

Once you’ve set up your account, you’ll be able to access your official PNW student email. Plan to check for messages frequently. In addition, make the myPNW student portal login link a favorite on your computer or smart phone for easy login access. For more information on smartphone email set-up instructions and frequently asked questions, check out the Information Services frequently asked questions resource.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is your entryway to officially becoming a PNW student. You will join us on campus to meet other incoming students, meet with your academic advisor to schedule your first semester of classes and get your official PNW student ID. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about what to expect during your first of classes.
